David Forbes Takes Captains Prize

Faughan Valley hosted our Captains Day on Saturday 28th July 2012. The weather was not kind to the players but it did not deter them from supporting our Captain Cecil King, with over a 100 participating for the Captains prize. The winner on the day was 8 handicapper David Forbes on a BOT from last years winner 21 handicapper Paul Farren both carding 38 points. In third spot was Tony P Griffiths with 37 points playing off a handicap of 12. The gross prize went to 7 handicapper Conor Peace with 78 nett, the front nine was won by Roy Cooke with 20 points playing off 16, and Martin McGlynn took the back nine with 21 points playing off 16. Nearest the pin went to Paul Farren, and the longest drive went to Dan Hinds. The ladies competition was played over 12 holes, with the first prize going to 17 handicapper Eileen Robb with 25 points, our Lady Captain Kathleen Cooke took second spot with 22 points playing off a handicap of 27, and in third spot was 27 handicapper Jackie McNulty with 21 points. The Captains visitors prize went to 12 handicapper Cecil Holmes from Castlerock with 33 points, and the Captains Guests prize went to Kevin Dunne from Foyle with 32 points playing off 10. Shane McGahon in his last year as a Junior, took the Junior Prize with 39 points playing off a handicap of 9. Martin McGlynn was the winner of the past Captains Prize with 32 points, and our past President Don O'Doherty was presented with the Club Man of the Year Award.

In the mid-week competition 13 handicapper Roy Cooke took first spot with 42 points, in second spot was James Lindsay on a BOT with 37 points playing off a handicap of 2, and third spot went to Damien Lough also with 37 points playing off 10.

This Saturday we will be hosting the PFS and Ronnie Parkes Trophy, and on Sunday its an Open Stableford.
